Tesla Rival Xiaomi Sets Production Records as Chinese Challenge Accelerates
Shares in Chinese EV maker Xiaomi (XIACF) dropped over 4% despite celebrating a milestone—the 500,000th vehicle rolling off its production line. The achievement, reached in just 19 months, sets a global record for new energy vehicle manufacturers. This rapid scaling intensifies competition for U.S. rivals like Tesla (TSLA).
Industry analysts view Xiaomi's progress as a sign of China's smart EV sector maturing into mass production. Founder Lei Jun framed the feat as proof of Xiaomi's end-to-end capabilities, from R&D to service. The company now aims to accelerate output and deepen AI integration in manufacturing.
